Reading groups: Rabbinic Literature
Two new reading groups are getting underway in Lent Term 2026, meeting 14:00–15:30 on alternate Tuesdays.
The Talmudic narratives group will read central narratives from the Babylonian Talmud, working mostly with translated texts. Sessions begin on 27 January.
The Midrash Pirqe de-Rabbi Eliezer reading group will work in the original Hebrew. Translations will also be provided. Sessions begin on 3 February. There will be no session on 3 March.
Who is this for?
Everyone is welcome to participate in either or both of the groups. Knowledge of Hebrew is not a prerequisite. The organisers hope these groups will assist participants to enjoy the varied delights and different genres of rabbinic literature.
Practicalities
Both groups meet at the Faculty of Divinity.
There is no need for University staff or students to register. If you have a question, you are welcome to reach out to any of the Cambridge Interfaith Research Forum members involved in organising: Lindsey Taylor-Guthartz (lat50), Daniel Weiss (dhw27), or Aaron Koller (ajk225). Shira Hecht is also part of the organising team.
We recommend that persons who are not currently members of the University make an enquiry before attending.
