Reading group: Spirituality & Psychology
What does it mean to be human? How do we make sense of our inner lives, our relationships, and our place in the world?
This reading group (new for 2025) invites exploration at the intersections of spirituality and psychology through a unique blend of texts: one academic, one literary, and one scriptural. Each session centres on a shared theme and opens space for thoughtful conversation across disciplines and traditions.
Can a poem illuminate a theory? Can scripture speak to the psyche? Can dialogue deepen understanding?
Whether you're drawn by faith, fascinated by the mind, or simply curious, you're welcome to join us. Bring questions, insights, and openness to explore.
Practicalities
This reading group is organised by University of Cambridge postgraduate students and meets once or twice each term, beginning in Michaelmas 2025. Upcoming sessions will be listed on this website. Please see the Events listings.
Who is this for?
The reading group is open to all members of the University of Cambridge, including alumni. Official visitors to the University may also attend.Â
Preparation
To receive notice of the readings for a session, you are asked to register (by providing a contact email address). This will be held in the Cambridge ecosystem and used to provide you with information about the session you have signed up to attend. With your consent, it may also be used to alert you to future sessions of this reading group.
I am not a member of the University, but I would really like to attend this reading group. Can I?
Due to copyright restrictions, it may not be possible to provide access to some readings for people who are not staff, students or alumni of the University (i.e. those who do not already have library rights at Cambridge). If there is a specific session that is of interest to you, external enquiries will be shared with the organisers.
