About
This one‑day GCSE Religious Education CPD event is designed for Secondary School RE teachers seeking subject‑specific support and confidence with key GCSE content.
Hosted by the Centre for Islamic Studies (University of Cambridge), the event will explore core beliefs and concepts central to GCSE specifications, with a focus on:
Islam
- The Six Articles of Faith
- The Nature of God (Allah)
- Predestination (Al‑Qadr)
Christianity
- Sin, including original sin
- Different Christian beliefs about salvation
The day will provide subject knowledge refreshment, opportunities for discussion, and practical insights to support effective teaching and learning at GCSE level.
Practicalities
This CPD is offered free of charge. Registration is required. Further details will be sent to those who have registered.

About the organisers
This event is hosted by the HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Centre of Islamic Studies at the University of Cambridge, a postdoctoral research and outreach centre that aims to promote a constructive and critical understanding of the role of Islam and Muslims in wider society.
