Making research matter: an intensive policy bootcamp for early career researchers
Does your research touch on the lives of religious communities? Curious about how religion and policy intersect? Wonder how research can reach and influence policymakers? Keen to explain your area of work to nonexpert audiences?
Our two-day bootcamp offers intensive training in how to translate research findings into impactful insights for policymakers, and improve how you communicate with general audiences.
Together we will:
- Study the anatomy of policy papers and briefs to consider how structure, jargon, case studies and evidence function across the genre
- Learn about how structures of decision-making affect opportunities to influence policy in different settings (including UK Parliament, devolved government, and internationally)
- Meet senior researchers with case studies of policy impact excellence
- Workshop your research with peers and mentors to explore new ways to demonstrate its relevance
- Talk directly about the specific challenges that affect research on religious matters
You’ll gain:
- Good strategies to share your research effectively with policymakers.
- Ways to shape your work so it resonates with a range of audiences.
- Insights into the policymaking process and how to navigate it.
Who should attend:
- Early career researchers from all disciplines—senior colleagues also welcome!
- Those specifically engaging with religious matters and faith communities. (Case studies and discussion will focus on this domain.)
- Emergent researchers curious about making their work accessible and relevant to policymakers.
Why attend:
- Gain practical skills and knowledge from experienced professionals.
- Meet like-minded researchers and policy influencers.
- Enhance the societal impact of your research through networking and skillbuilding.
Don’t miss this chance to transform your research into a powerful tool for change.
General registration opens 30 March. (We'll be offering early bird access to members of the Cambridge Interfaith Research Forum.)
