Israel–Palestine in interfaith dialogue

This event is organised with the NGO Solutions Not Sides.

The reverberations of violence in Israel–Palestine are felt in communities around the world. In the face of contemporary events Cambridge research shows that where some feel silenced, others find themselves unfairly positioned as spokespeople, required to claim or disclaim a position. In interfaith spaces specifically, organisations have needed to adjust their work in response to heightened tensions and increased hate. So how do we talk about this elephant in the room?

We will be joined at this event by guests from Solutions Not Sides, including two peacemakers who have been carrying out school visits in the Cambridge area. Together we may speak about questions including:

  • Does religious literacy help people know what to say or how to act in the face of ongoing violence?
  • When saying the wrong thing is easy, how can people create safe spaces for challenging conversations?
  • Is bettering UK community relations an unfair burden to place on Israeli and Palestinian peacemakers?

Further information on enquiry.
