The Faculty of Divinity intends to make a new fixed-term appointment as Research Associate in the field of interfaith relations for one year from 1 April 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will be a Research Associate to Professor Esra Özyürek, Academic Director of Cambridge Interfaith Programme.

Role and responsibilities

The appointee will be expected to help write grant applications that broadly relate to the field of interfaith relations. This includes particular responsibility for an ERC advanced grant application estimated to be due at the end of April 2023. The successful candidate will also have time to develop and pursue their own research, and will be expected to submit at least one academic article for publication based on their own research during their tenure.

The post includes scope to develop new applications relevant to the field of interfaith studies which connect with the post-holder’s own interests and expertise.

Requirements

Candidates, whose research specialism may be in the field of Anthropology of Religion, Religion and/or Theology, should have a doctorate in the field.

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) including a full list of research publications
  • covering letter
  • an appropriately-redacted copy of a grant application with which you have been involved, accompanied by a 300-word commentary explaining your involvement and what you see as key factors
  • and if available one recent published research article

The closing date is midnight (GMT) on Monday 28 February 2022. Candidates should ask their referees to submit their references by this date. It is expected that interviews will take place in March 2022.

The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
